Terrorists murder three policemen in Katsina, injure several others – police

The Katsina State police command has confirmed the killing of its three officers by suspected terrorists.

“On 27th January, 2026, at about 1244 hours, a team of policemen on routine anti-crime patrol along Guga-Bakori were ambushed by some suspected armed hoodlums shooting sporadically,”  the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, disclosed in a statement .

“The officers responded bravely, repelling the attack.

“Unfortunately, three officers paid the supreme price during the encounter while two officers sustained injuries. The injured officers were rushed to the nearest hospital and are responding to treatment.

“Investigations have since commenced with a view to arresting the perpetrators of the dastardly act.”

Bakori Local Government Area is one of the several epicenters of criminality in the State, where terrorists, otherwise referred to as bandits, kidnap residents en masse for ransom while others are killed in cold blood.

The situation appears to continue unabated in spite of reported negotiations reached between a cross section of the terrorist groups and select local government authorities.
