President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has received fresh endorsements from Nigerians in the Diaspora even as the AMBO Movement UK applauded his bold economic reforms and foreign policy initiatives.

The group, while declaring support for Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO) in the 2026 Osun governorship election, described Tinubu’s reforms as “politically courageous” and vital for Nigeria’s economic stability.

Oyebamiji, a frontline aspirant for the Osun governorship race, is the current Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) and the longest-serving Commissioner for Finance in Osun’s history.

In a communiqué signed by Chairman Mayowa Olabisi and Public Relations Officer Olawale Mikail, and issued after a weekend session in London, the movement lauded Tinubu’s removal of fuel subsidies and the floating of the naira, stressing that the measures have restored investor confidence.

The statement further highlighted Tinubu’s recent diplomatic engagements in Japan and Brazil, noting that the trips have “repositioned Nigeria for stronger bilateral ties, technology transfer, and trade partnerships.”

“President Tinubu’s reforms are laying the foundation for a transparent and resilient economy while rebranding Nigeria’s global image,” the communiqué read. “His leadership has positioned the country as a serious player in global markets.”

Turning to Osun politics, the movement unanimously urged the All Progressives Congress (APC) to present Oyebamiji as its candidate, citing his fiscal expertise and track record. They noted that under his stewardship, Osun boosted internally generated revenue, cleared pension backlogs, restored full salaries, and implemented stabilising economic policies.

To reinforce its stance, the AMBO Movement UK announced an initial donation of ₦25 million to Oyebamiji’s campaign and pledged to mobilise at least 10,000 additional votes for him in the 2026 polls if the APC grants him the ticket.

“With competence, compassion, and continuity, AMBO represents Osun’s best chance at prosperity,” the communiqué stated, reaffirming loyalty to both Tinubu’s reform agenda and Oyebamiji’s governorship ambition.

The group further argued that Oyebamiji’s influence “transcends political boundaries,” describing him as a leader with a human-centred approach, infrastructural foresight, and commitment to inclusive development.

“We urge the APC leadership to heed the voice of the people and rally behind a candidate who embodies competence, compassion, and continuity. The time for strategic selection is now, and AMBO stands as the beacon of hope for Osun’s future,” the statement added.

According to the communiqué, members of the movement have resolved to embark on massive grassroots mobilisation through their structures in Nigeria, canvassing heavily ahead of the August 8, 2026 governorship election.
