Outspoken Senator, Mohammed Ali Ndume (Borno South) has alleged that President Bola Tinubu is surrounded by kleptocrats who have nothing else to offer president or the nation, except to continuously spin the president into a false sense infallibility as a diversionary tactic to enable them to steal to their hearts’ contents.
Ndume, who spoke in an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme, alleged that many of the appointees around Tinubu are in government to make money.
Asked if he thought Tinubu was aware, he quipped: ” I don’t know.”
Ndume also doubled down on his accusation of alleged lopsided appointments made by Tinubu. According to Ndume, the appointments filled by Yorubas include: Minister of Finance, CBN Governor, Customs DG, PENCOM boss, NNPC, FIRS, FAAN, NIMASA, Marine and Blue Economy, etc.
Ndume also kicked against the declaration of Emergency Rule in Rivers State and the removal of the Governor, Siminalayi Fubara. According to Ndume, the action was undemocratic. He said Tinubu ought to have been firmer in calling the warring parties in Rivers State to order instead of slamming a state of emergency.
Ndume also knocked presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, describing him as ‘a senior domestic staff’, in a riposte to being called hypocritical by Onanuga.
Stating that Onanuga called him names, including branding him as frustrated, Ndume said he had only returned the presidential spokesman’s insult since he Ndume is a senator while Onanuga “is just a domestic staff of the president”.
