Ndigbo ’re tired of begging FG to release Nnamdi Kanu – Uwazuruike

By Ndukaku Ihe

Chief Ralf Uwazuruike is a Nigerian activist and leader of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB).

On Wednesday, immediately after the court trial of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra  (IPOB ) in Abuja, he condemned the continued trial of Nnamdi Kanu and attributed it to deep hatred for Ndigbo by the federal government, and recalled that two elder statesmen who begged for his release have died without their wishes being granted.

His words: “I really don’t know why the Federal Government is shameless on this Nnamdi Kanu’s case; he has been released by the court of appeal; even if the federal high court convicts Nnamdi Kanu tomorrow, they will still go to the same court of appeal or even if the case didn’t go the way of the Federal Government, the Federal Government will still go to the court of appeal . Does it mean that if the court rules in favour of Kanu, they will release him or if the court rules against the Federal Government, will they keep or release him. “Even if the Federal Government did not like the decision of the court of appeal, they would have released him first to obey their own court and look for another way to rearrest him. If the Supreme Court convicts Kanu tomorrow, it won’t hold any water because the Federal Government is supposed to obey the decision of the court of appeal first, that was why I said the Federal Government is shameless in these proceedings.

“Which court released Sunday Igboho, what offence did he commit, what’s the difference between Sunday Igboho and Nnamdi Kanu because Igboho is a Yoruba man and Kanu is an Igbo man; that’s the only difference, not to talk of the real terrorists in Nigeria called the Miyetti Allah and Fulani herdsmen who are the real terrorists and they’re the people being protected; placating ,releasing them from prisons, reinstating them into the security forces as repentant terrorists, then you ascribe Nnamdi Kanu bringing laptops as evidence, camera, phone, arrant nonsense. Because you hate Igbo man, you’re disgracing yourselves, then you want to use him for 2027 election, who do you think is ready to beg the Federal Government again, nobody. Nobody from Igbo land will beg Federal Government again because of Kanu, Our leader who died recently, Mbazulike Amaechi on wheelchair went to Abuja to beg Buhari to release Kanu as his last wish, nobody listened to him.

“Recently, late President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu begged so many times that Kanu should be released in accordance with the orders of the court of appeal and nobody listened to him.  So you want Igbo to line up, I don’t know what else you want us to do to show that you’re humiliating Ndigbo and it makes you happy, must we run under the carpet in Nigeria for you to be happy; you’re looking for an avenue to imprison and you have to kill him, even if you kill him today, the idea won’t die.  No Igbo man is a terrorist, we know who the real terrorists are in Nigeria and they’re being protected, they carry their AK 47 into the South killing the South. On Aburi, we stand, on court of appeal we stand; that’s the position of Ndigbo.

“Every Igbo man feels that you’re playing delay tactics on the issue of Nnamdi Kanu, we want to see him back, your own court of appeal has directed you to release him and instead of that, you started deploying justices in different locations. Your own court, a court big as the court of appeal, you didn’t obey it, then you send it back to an inferior court like the federal high court. “What nonsense, we’re watching you, let’s see what you want to do. You want to humiliate us in Nigeria,  we’re above such. God is protecting us and it’s amusing that the court will keep this case for these number of years.

“You released every other person that had similar case and kept him. I even read about one Igbo man, E Money who went to a friend’s birthday  party, I’ve watched the clip, I didn’t see any naira there, because he’s an Igbo man, that’s all but the children of Okoya of Lagos who I saw even with bundle of currency, you never charged him to court; you never even said anything about it but because this young man is Igbo and went to his friend’s party, that’s an offence. You now want to humiliate Ndigbo because you see that they’re vibrant, working hard, showing their riches, yes God has blessed us, you can’t do anything about it.

“They’re just jealous about the progress of Ndigbo in Nigeria. The other day I was also reading about somebody who said Forbes published list of billionaires that six of them are Nigerians and out of the six, two are Hausas and four Yoruba and no Igbo. But if you talk of those who are real billionaires in Nigeria today, they are Igbo people. Some of these other groups are enriched with government money. We know their source of wealth, we know how they became billionaires. Igbo people struggle for their money, not governmental ranking. They shouldn’t be envious of Ndigbo. When they’re tired of holding Kanu, they will release him, they will stop that charade they’re doing in Abuja. Igbo are not interested, we want to see him come back tomorrow.”
