Governor Ododo Focused On Ethical Conduct, and Accountability – Fanwo, Commissioner for Information and Communications

The Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo has reaffirmed Governor Usman Ododo’s unrelenting effort in ensuring that the government officials exhibit ethical conduct and  accountability to their people.

The Commissioner gave the affirmation while receiving an award of Ambassador of Ethics and Conscience from a Non-Governmental Organization, Center for Ethics and Self Value Orientation in his office in Lokoja, having traced his antecedents in the past ten years and discovered no traces of corruption in his name.

He commended the Center for the prestigious Award, adding that the organization was doing the right thing Nigeria needs at the moment which is value orientation in order to position the nation among the top countries of the world, assuring the citizens’ trust in government as all necessary procedures are being followed.

“What you are doing for Nigeria is what Nigeria needs. We need value orientation. We need value reorientation. We need to learn, unlearn, and continue to learn until we are able to position our country in such a way that we will be able to match with the rest of the global community that are doing things right.” Fanwo emphasized.

Fanwo reiterated that Governor Ododo is a good leader who has demonstrated good and quality leadership at all levels. He stressed that Governor Ododo’s administration had signed into law an inbuilt mechanism to check corruption and abuse of power in the mode of ICPC and EFCC in the state. He described the act as a system that is anchored on due process, transparency, and accountability.

Earlier, the Executive Director of the organisation, Ethicist Prince Salihu Musa Yakubu  highlighted that the Award tagged “Ambassador of Ethics and Conscience” was specially designed for people who have distinguished themselves in all ramifications.

‎According to the Executive Director, the vision of the past heroes were yet to be realized due to corruption in the national system, stressing that the Commissioner was singled out for the award because of his integrity and quality services being rendered to the people of the state.

‎He said corruption had festered deep into the Country because of poor moral ethical values, adding that  those who have lived above board, like the Commissioner, should be celebrated.

Prince Salihu emphasized that they do not let MDAs know when they are being secretly investigated to avoid any possible influence on their job to guarantee quality assurance against corruption and reportarge.

Analysing the result of their thorough research, the Executive Director stated that Kogi Information Ministry had been ranked amongst the shortlisted top 23 MDAS/10 LGAs in state, top 10 states ministry of information in which it had been ranked 2nd position overall in Nigeria and 1st in North Central Zone. The state, therefore, has met corporate Ethics and integrity compliance certificate, and a Gold medal was presented to the Hon. Fanwo.

For the excellent performance of the Hon. Commissioner at the helm of affairs of the Ministry, the organisation had granted a special privilege of having 100 staff of the Ministry to be trained latest May 2026, with 60% expenses on them and 40% on the ministry, describing the act as a reward for winning the award.

Prince Salihu commended Hon. Fanwo for doing a lot of reform in the information sector and for reducing internal corrupt tendencies in the ministry, stressing that the public perception about his leadership is superb.

He said the Core Management Staff of the Ministry also received letters of commendation for outstanding professional ethics compliance and quality public service delivery, noting that such letters would add value to their career for life and making them more opportunistic in promotion and elevation.

In his closing remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr Celestine Idoko commnnded the organization for the prestigious award, celebrating the Commissioner for his exceptional leadership and assured him the management’s and entire staff continued loyalty and support as he takes the ministry to greater heights.
