Gains from Igbo-Eze North maiden PDP conference

On Thursday, June 19, 2025, the Igbo-Eze North Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman, Engr. Hon. Solomon Ogili Ph.D demonstrated his political sagacity, adroitness and mastery of grassroots mobilisation.
The event was the Igbo-Eze North PDP 2025 Maiden Conference titled, “Empowering Grassroots Party Executives On Strategic And Sustainable Leadership.”
It was a convergence of the creme de la creme including top politicians, political juggernauts, party executives and accomplished entrepreneurs.
From all indications, the party chairman is blazing trails and breaking jinx in party leadership, thus bringing his experience, skills, expertise and exposure to bear. The former councillor who cut his teeth in politics as the then personal assistant to the erstwhile Mayor of Igbo-Eze North Local Government, Hon. Chijioke Ugwu has undoubtedly become a thoroughbred grassroots politician. He is an erudite scholar and a Ph.D holder in Electronic and Electrical Engineering with a bias in communication Engineering option.
It was a historic day for Igbo-Eze North council because earlier in the morning, the ebullient Mayor of Igbo-Eze North council, Hon. Uche Ogalla flagged off the construction of some strategic roads in the council and the Ozzi International Market construction. Mayor Ogalla still basking in the euphoria of the flag off, welcomed the intellectual and thoughtful Secretary to Enugu state Government, Prof. Chidi Onyia and the workaholic state PDP Chairman, Hon. Martin Chukwunweike, former secretary to the state government, Dr. Dan Shere, Member ESUT Governing Council, Hon. Chinedu Onu, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Deacon. Okey Ogbodo, and other dignitaries including the leaders of thought from Igbo-Eze North to the conference. Igbo-Eze North was agog and buzzed with glowing faces.
In attendance were 20 ward chairmen, their executives and over 2000 party faithful. It was a capacity building to equip them with the leadership skills in adherence to the party’s standard operating procedure. Igbo-Eze North PDP under Hon. Ogili in synergy with the executive chairman of Igbo-Eze North has witnessed a tremendous and unprecedented growth, through their people-oriented leadership as many opposition party members have returned to the cover of the umbrella. The conference ignited the passion, interest and the zeal in the party executives and it was an eye opener as the SSG, Prof. Onyia’s impactful rendition, held the audience spellbound.
Many of the speakers agreed on the need for teamwork.
The apogee of the gathering was the solemn request made by the party chairman, Hon. Ogili on building a befitting party Secretariat, and it received a huge boost from Chief Festus Oshaba (Ferotex) who was represented by the former Mayor of Igbo-Eze North and the current State Financial Secretary of PDP, Hon. Ejike Itodo. He donated the sum of N3M while the renowned philanthropist, Chief Chirote Damian Odo supported with the sum of 2M, and all acknowledged more support once the project kicks off.
The conference being the first of its kind empowered the grassroots party executives, even as the cardinal objective was a broadened vision of party leadership to ensure a seamless service delivery without acrimony and rancour.
This conference would not have been possible without the support of the executive chairman of Igbo-Eze North council, Hon. Uche Ogalla who in his characteristic interest in people-oriented programmes welcomed the guests with much enthusiasm.
With the success of this year’s conference, we look forward for the 2026 conference.
