Former Governor of Adamawa State, Mr. Boni Haruna has denied a report making the rounds of social media that he has concluded plans to join the Social Democratic Party (SDP) on April 20, 2025.
In a statement the former Governor released on Saturday – earlier today, March 15 – in Abuja, the FCT, Haruna described the report as ‘fake’, stating that he had neither told nor discussed with, anyone the possibility of his joining the SDP or, for that matter, any plans to that effect.
The full text of the statement is as follows:
“The attention of His Excellency Boni Haruna, the ex-Governor of Adamawa and ex-Minister of Youth Development, has been drawn to a social media report claiming that he will join SDP on April 20, 2025, alongside other Adamawa politicians mentioned in the report.
“The report is not only false but manifestly mischievous. ‘For the avoidance of doubt, I have never discussed joining SDP with anyone. I am still a member of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP)’, a press release issued from his office in Abuja and personally signed by His Excellency Ex-Gov Boni Haruna yesterday says.
“Ex-Gov Boni Haruna berated ‘those who have made it their handiwork to trend falsehood and outright fabrication in the media space’ and urged the public to disregard the report of his joining the SDP on 20 April 2025 as FAKE NEWS.”
