Ebonyi: Fear grips Nwifuru’s appointees as Governor orders return of official cars

Fear has gripped the appointees of Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru following his directive that they must present their official cars to the Secretary to the state government, Professor Grace Umezuruike.
The governor purchased JAC SUV for Special Assistants, Prado SUV for Commissioners and Senior Special Assistants among other officials at millions of naira each.
Though no reason was given for the presentation of the vehicles by the government officials which must be done physically according to the governor’s directive, it was learned that many of them have sold their own, prompting the state’s Chief Executive to direct the physical presentation of the vehicles.
A statement tagged operation “show your vehicle”, signed by Secretary to the State Government, Professor Grace Umezuruike, said names of those who failed to present their own during the exercise, should be compiled and sent to him.
“His Excellency, our dear Governor, Right Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has directed that all government officials who have been allocated one or more vehicles, be it official or utility vehicle or both, should physically present the vehicle/s to the office of the SSG.

“Principal officers and commissioners: Friday 8/8/25, time- 10 am to 12 noon, venue: SSG’s office premises.
“SSAs and permanent secretaries: Saturday 9/8/25, same time and venue.
