BIAFRA DAY: IPOB commends ‘Biafrans’, says ‘total May 30 sit-at-home compliance reaffirms Biafra’s eternal resolve’

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has commended ‘Biafrans’ for “the total and unprecedented compliance across the entire homeland and beyond with the sit-at-Home directive issued in solemn remembrance of our fallen heroes and heroines.”

“On this sacred day, May 30th, 2025, Biafra stood still. From Igweocha to Onitsha, from Aba to Nsukka, from Enugu to Owerri, Owerri to Abakiliki to Delta our people locked their shops, closed their markets, left the roads empty, and honored the silence of the graves where our fathers, mothers, brothers, and sisters fell in their millions,” the self-determination group noted in a statement issued Sunday (today, June 1) by the group’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful.

Raising a flag to “the courage, discipline, and deep ancestral conviction of our people in observing this sacred ritual of remembrance,” IPOB described the compliance by ‘Biafrans’ with the May 30 sit-at-home directive as “yet another irrefutable proof that Biafra is not a dream (but) a living spirit burning in every true Biafran’s soul.”

“Let it be made abundantly clear to the Nigerian state, its puppets, and the EFULEFU class of Abuja-based political contractors,” the pro-Biafra restoration group declared, “May 30th is etched in our collective consciousness. It is carved in the stone of our history and written in the blood of the fallen. No amount of blackmail, sabotage, threats, or stomach-infrastructure politics can erase it.

“Those who attempt to belittle the sanctity of this day expose themselves as slaves to their own shame and enemies of their own people. These political prostitutes, licking the boots of their oppressors in Abuja, may sell their conscience, but they cannot sell Biafra.”

IPOB warned that Biafra is not just an idea or a proclamation but a DNA thing, insisting that “every child born of genuine Biafran blood has the map of Biafra encrypted in their DNA.”

“Our resistance to oppression is not learned; it is inborn. Freedom is our essence, and justice is our creed. We are the children of light—destined to rise, no matter how many times the enemy plots our fall. Every Biafran is an Indigenous Person of Biafra, and IPOB is the embodiment of that spirit. Our quest is noble, our mission divine, and nothing—and we repeat, NOTHING—will stop us from honoring our heroes from now until the end of time,” the group declared in the statement by Powerful.

Nnamdi Kanu-led pro-Biafra agitation group rolled out a timetable, stating that from next year (2026) and beyond, it would work to ensure that “every community, every clan, and every state capital within Biafraland erects a cenotaph in honor of our martyrs—those we lost in the genocidal war of 1967–70 and all those slain in subsequent years by an occupying and oppressive regime.”

Disclosing that their names “shall be inscribed in stone and their sacrifice documented for future generations, (as) we owe it to them (and) to ourselves,” IPOB further sneered:

“Those who sought to exterminate the children of light have failed—and shall continue to fail. The Biafran Holocaust claimed over 5 million lives—innocent men, women, and children starved, bombed, and slaughtered in cold blood in the most calculated act of genocide Africa has ever seen. Yet our oppressors, with the assistance of soulless EFULEFUS, want us to forget. They want us to be silent. They want to bury the truth. But we say never again!

“The Rwandan genocide—150,000 lives lost—is remembered and honored globally. The martyrdom of Chief MKO Abiola in the name of democracy is a national holiday. But our 5 million dead are to be forgotten? Not on our watch. Never.

“IPOB is committed to unveiling a series of coordinated, strategic actions in the coming months to attain global recognition for the Biafran Genocide. The world shall hear our voice. The world shall confront the truth. We will not stop until the genocide against the Biafran people is recognized alongside every atrocity that humanity has vowed never to repeat.

“This is a promise. This is our duty. And we shall not relent.”
