Baba-Ahmed lambasts Tinubu, says Nigeria worse off than in 2023

Former Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Political Matters, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has said Nigeria is currently facing deeper challenges than when the present administration assumed office in 2023.
Baba-Ahmed made the assertion on Tuesday during an interview on Trust TV, where he assessed the state of the nation, particularly in terms of security and economic conditions, adding that even Tinubu himself knows that he has failed.
He said the level of violence across the country has escalated significantly, exceeding expectations three years into the current administration.
“We are in deeper trouble than when you came. Violence is becoming a lot more serious than we anticipated. Three years into President Tinubu’s presidency, we’re seeing an escalation in the pattern of violence and its magnitude and impact on our people that we’ve never seen before,” he said.
He noted that the administration came into power with strong promises to tackle insecurity and improve living standards but has yet to meet those expectations.
“This is a president who came to power promising to put an end to insecurity and to create a new path for Nigeria, improve living conditions, and make life safer and more abundant”, Baba-Ahmed stated.
He further claimed that even the president would acknowledge falling short of these commitments.
“The president himself would admit that he has failed to live up to the promises he made and to make Nigerians safe”, he added.
Baba-Ahmed also criticised the timing of a recent state visit by the president to the United Kingdom, describing it as insensitive in light of recent security incidents.
He pointed out that the trip, which included a large delegation of ministers and government officials, took place shortly after a deadly attack in Borno State.
“A few days ago, the president and a huge entourage of ministers and government officials travelled to the United Kingdom on a state visit. It was a very festive event from media reports.
“It occurred at a moment when, just days earlier, there was one of the most horrendous attacks in Borno State”, he lamented
