Chairman of the Ebonyi State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dr. Jenifer Adibe Nwafor has assured supporters and Nigerians in general, that the national coalition party will end the uncertainty and austerity currently ravaging the country, if elected into power in 2027.
In remarks on Monday – yesterday, January 12, 2026 – while receiving over 2,000 members of the All Progressive Congress (APC), the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the Labour Party (LP) and others who defected to the newly found party at Isu in Onicha LGA of Ebonyi State, Nwafor said the time had come for Nigerians to take their destinies into their hands.
“This is the time to take our destinies into our hands, fight for our future and the future of our children. On this note, ADC has come to provide the citizenry with all their needs such as welfare, quality healthcare and basic social amenities,” she stressed.
“The era where the masses are usually forgotten by the elected persons will not be seen because ADC is all about caring for one another and making a positive change.
“Additionally, the period where some persons die of preventable diseases won’t be experienced under ADC,” she said.
Dr. Nwafor further applauded the new members at Amanator ward for taking such bold step, assuring them that they would be carried along adequately even as the party would not leave its manifesto unfulfilled.
She charged both the new and old members to continue preaching the party as a gospel across 171 political wards of the State, to prevent Nigeria from becoming a country of one-party system.
Expressing his joy at the development, one of the new members and former coordinator of Onicha Development Center, Mr. Moses Odii Nweze, said his defection was caused by the internal crisis that had destabilized his former party.
Mr. Nweze who is also the former National Youths Leader of the People’s Democratic Party, South East zone, disclosed that some intruders had destroyed the party in such way that it is being faced with over 20 litigations in various law courts across the nation.
“It was after I had seen the faces of those who want the progress of Nigeria that I decided to join the liberation squad and presently, ADC is the only alternative,” he said.
Chairmen of ADC, Onicha LGA and Amanator Ward, Mr. Charles Uzor and Nelson Okonkwo Nwadibia respectively said the mass departure from other parties was caused by the unpleasant leadership of the ruling party and urged the new members to remain resolute.
It was gathered that the party, in its quest to make life easy for the people, pegged the cost of form for the forthcoming Local government Chairmanship election at N500,000, N250,000 for councillorship and free forms for women.
