The Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Ibrahim Abdullahi, has said the African Democratic Coalition (ADC), will only be a threat to other parties in 2027 general elections if former Vice President Atiku Abubakar can give up his ambition in support of the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi.

He said the coalition has a chance ahead of 2027, but he dared the former Vice president to swallow his ambition and support Obi.

He acknowledged Obi’s popularity, saying he remains a huge asset which any political party would crave for.

Speaking on Arise TV’s programme, Prime Time, he regretted that the only thing that drives Atiku in politics is his vaulting ambition to be president of Nigeria.

He praised the sterling qualities of Peter Obi, saying the LP 2023 presidential candidate proved bookmakers wrong despite the hurdles he contended with in the last general elections.

Abdullahi raised concerns on the possibility of the African Democratic Coalition (ADC) winning the 2027 presidential poll because of the conflicting ambitions of some members.

“The coalition is a threat ahead of the 2027 general election but the problem is the ambition of some of its members. For instance, I dare former vice president Atiku to give up his ambition and rally round Peter Obi. I dare Atiku to do that”, he said.

He said that Atiku’s ambition contributed to the failure of the PDP in the 2023 general elections.

Abdullahi observed that the PDP would be happy to receive Peter Obi back to its fold as he remains a huge asset to any party, he may like to identify with ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He said that the PDP remains the oldest party having operated in the nation’s political space in the last 27 years.

On Wike’s perceived anti-party activities, he said the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory would be punished if the NEC finds him wanting after its coming meeting.

He said that the PDP is above every member of the party and has what it takes to punish any erring member.
