Police apprehend, parade suspected kidnappers of Appeal Court Justice’s wife, 28 others


The Cross River cross river State Police Command has arrested and paraded 34 suspected criminals in Calabar.

Among the suspected criminals paraded is a six-man gang that kidnapped Ekwele Ignatius Agube, wife of Appeal Court judge, Justice Ignatius Agube.

Parading the suspects, new Commissioner of Police, Cross River State, Abdulkadir Jimoh, said the command would not rest until the state was rid of crime.

According to him, “Intelligence Response Team IRT operatives attached to the FBI deployed to the State to assist the Commissioner of Police in Cross River State arrested six of the notorious robbers including the gang leader and recovered two locally made pistols.

” Suspects arrested confessed to kidnapping of Mrs. Ekwele Agube and many other innocent citizens in Cross River State,” he said.

He gave a breakdown of the arrested suspects to include 10 robbery cases, six kidnapping, six cultists, three sea pirates, five murderers, two rapists and one drug vendor.

He said eight firearms and five ammunition were also recovered from the suspects and urged members of the public to join hands with the police to fight the hydra-headed monster of crime in the State.
