IPOB regrets killings in Ehamufu, alleges incident consequence of community’s refusal to welcome ESN, IPOB

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has condoled with the people of Aguamede over what the group described as “constant…massacres of our people, (especially the recent invasion of, and killings) in Aguamede community in Ehamufu, Isiuzo Council Area of Enugu (Enugwu) State.”

In a statement by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful, IPOB noted that while the group deplored the recent killings in Ehamufu, it equally deplored the attitude of leaders of the community who refused to provide base for operatives of the Eastern Security Network (ESN) in the community, pointing out that such attitude is largely responsible for the constant attacks on communities in Ehamufu in Isiuzo LGA of Enugu State by killer Fulani herdsmen.

“The traditional ruler, President General and youth leader of Ehamufu and its  environs contributed in no small measure to the Fulani massacres in their community; these people joined hands with the Nigerian government to chase ESN operatives out of their community in their (government’s) desperation to ensure that Fulani take over the community,” IPOB alleged. “We are aware that not less than 10 persons were killed by herdsmen in Aguamede community, Ehamufu town of Isi Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State in particular. We mourn them but ESN won’t come!

“With ESN operatives out of the community, Fulani came in to massacre them. ESN will not come again…(When) ESN was established, a batch of (operatives) of the security outfit was dispatched into their communities but ESN was attacked by the community and many ESN members and IPOB members were killed and or detained by the community and youth of the community. The communities involved have discovered scores of dead bodies who were massacred by Fulani jihadists and foot soldiers.

“Any community that pushed ESN operatives out from their place should not expect ESN operatives back until IPOB (has asked the relevant questions and got the appropriate answers) at the appropriate time.

“The Nigerian military and police have failed to respond because they are behind, and in support of, the attacks by the Fulani terrorists who are massacring innocent citizens of Enugu (Enugwu) State. We are not sure that they are not directly responsible for the massacres and mayhem witnessed by our people in Enugwu Provence.

“We want to let everyone  know that these communities are not getting the desired support from ESN because they collaborated with the military and police to fight ESN and today the military has refused to come to their help.”

On reported attacks on the ‘Four Corner’ axis of Enugu by Fulani herdsmen, IPOB alleged that “the numerous attacks and kidnapping going on at ‘Four Corner’, Enugwu State” should be blamed on the  Commander of 82 Division, Enugu, Major-General Umar Musa and the Commissioner of Place, arguing that “the new army commander was transferred from Lagos State to Enugu to give cover to Fulani jihadists to continue the elimination of Ndigbo.”

“Indigenes of the communities told us that the attack (on ‘Four Corner’) began on Saturday (November 19) and continued on Monday (November 21) afternoon and that more than100 innocent men and women were murdered in cold-blood without reason in those areas of the State,” IPOB further alleged. “The order has been given to ESN operatives not to move to these areas except ‘Four Corner’ where Fulani kidnappers have been rampaging and destroying innocent citizens of Biafra. We wonder why Fulani terrorists would be operating behind army and police check-points.

“We are calling our people both home and abroad to assist us to fight this battle ahead with Fulani terrorists in some parts of Enugu State like ‘Four Corner and its environs.

“Among those killed in one particular community were six women and four men while five others sustained machete injuries on several parts of their bodies and were later sent to the hospital.”
