From NDUKAIHE UGWU, Abuja

The gale of looting targeted at hoarded Covid-19 palliatives has inched up further North as youths in Taraba State yesterday evening broke into one of the Taraba State government’s warehouses located at Veterinary Clinic opposite Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Secretariat, and carted away tons of food items.

AbeyaNews reports that as at the time of filing this reports last night, hundreds of people were still clamouring to enter the warehouse while many others were already leaving the place, carrying with them different looted items, including noodles, salt, maize and others.

Although it was not clear as at the time of the report, the scene may have witnessed possible casualties as the scene witnessed a stampede in which people could have been trampled to death, what with the looters struggling to either enter or exit through the narrow entrance into the warehouse.

Some of the youths who spoke to correspondents said they were not hoodlums but people who had come to “take what is rightly ours”.
