#EndSARS protests: No fire outbreak at National Ecumenical Centre, says CAN

*Cautions against any intended retaliatory action

Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has confirmed that no fire outbreak or any form of vandalisation happened yesterday at the National Christian Centre a.k.a National Ecumenical Centre.

CAN General Secretary, Joseph Daramola, said in a phone chat with a news reporter that the rumour about the facility being on fire, looted or vandalised was just a rumour and should be discarded by everyone.

He was quoted in the interview as saying: “My phone began to ring endlessly late Saturday (yesterday) evening about the rumour of the facility being on fire. I quickly rushed to the location, moved round the facilities in company of some other officials and security men at the facilities, and nothing of such was found.

“As at 8:20 pm when I left the facility, there was no attempt at destroying the facilities neither was their fire on it. That I can confirm to you. However, I have asked the security men attached to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to extend their services to the facilities.”

He strongly cautioned against any form of retaliatory actions from the people who might attempt to protect the interest of the church.
