Some 13 persons have sustained varying degrees of injury in a road accident, which occurred at Okija, in Ihiala Local Government Area of anambra State, according to the First Information Report of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Anambra dated 25th November (yesterday), 2020.
The accident report further disclosed that FRSC rescue team from Ihiala unit command were on ground for rescue operations and thereafter took the injured victims to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Ihiala for prompt medical services.
The sector commander of the corps in the State, CC Andrew Ayodele Kumapayi, while praying for the quicky recovery of the injured in the First Information Report, waned commuters and motorists to be extra-careful on the roads at this time of the year to avoid any mishaps and their untoward consequences.
He particularly warned against over-speeding, admonishing motorists to maintain speed limits and most importantly, observe lane discipline while on the highways and stressing that road mishaps were avoidable.
“On 25th November, 2020, thirteen (13) people got injured in a serious crash involving a white Toyota Hiace bus with registration number SSM 880 ZJ and a Toyota sienna Space bus with registration number GEA 29 AW which occurred at Okija, along Ihiala- Onitsha road,” the report further read.
“According to eyewitnesses, a total of Thirteen (13) people consisting of (8) Male adults and (5) female adults who were involved in the Crash sustained varying degree of injuries and were rushed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Ihiala by FRSC rescue team from Ihiala Unit Command . Road obstruction was cleared by the combined team of FRSC and NPF.”
