BREAKING: Alao-Akala, former Oyo State Governor, dies at 71

Death has again struck in Yorubaland, barely 24 hours after Chief Ernest Shonekan’s death, with reports indicating that former Governor of Oyo State, Adebayo Alao-Akala died early this morning (Wednesday, January 12, 2022) in his sleep, aged 71.

A former police officer, Alao-Akala reportedly died exactly a month after the monarch of his Ogbomoso town, died.

A news platform, Inside Oyo, first reported Alao-Akala’s death.

Alao-Akala, born 3 June 1950, was Governor of Oyo State between 2006 and 2011.

Until his death, he was a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
