2027: Nigerians ’ll reject governors’ rigging plans, choose best product – Obi

The Peter Obi Media Office (POMR) has warned state governors against attempts to manipulate the 2027 general election, declaring that Nigerians would resist any process that undermines their right to freely elect their leaders.
It said the governors, who were allegedly making covert efforts to undermine the democratic process, risked rejection at the polls because they had failed to present convincing records of service, performance and achievements.
POMR described the alleged moves as signs of desperation by governors who, rather than seeking renewed mandates through their performance, were resorting to electoral manipulation and safeguards for rigging.
In a press statement issued on Tuesday, the spokesman of the group, Indris Zekeri Jnr, said Nigerians would choose the best candidate available in the political marketplace, regardless of attempts to manipulate the electoral process.
The statement read: “The Media Office reminds the governors that, regardless of their fraudulent efforts, they are presenting a poor product, and Nigerians will select the best option available in the market.
“We therefore condemn the increasing desperation of these governors, who, instead of presenting their records of service, performance, and achievements, are turning to electoral manipulation and safeguards for rigging.”
The office maintained that leadership was a privilege earned through service and not a mandate to retain power through deceit, intimidation or interference with the democratic process.
“Nigerians have had enough and remain determined to reject undeserving leaders who have failed them,” it said.
Furthermore, the media office described the 2027 general election as a defining moment for the country, insisting that Nigerians were determined to reclaim their country through the power of their votes.
“Let it be known that no degree of rigging, intimidation, or political manoeuvring can permanently silence the will of the people,” the statement added.
The office also reaffirmed its support for the presidential ambition of Peter Obi, describing the former Anambra State governor as the preferred choice of Nigerians because of his leadership qualities.
“Peter Obi continues to be the people’s preferred choice because he embodies the strongest offering in the political arena: a leader defined by competence, capacity, character, compassion, and commitment, capable of raising Nigeria from its current condition and restoring its dignity, prosperity, and hope,” it said.
The media office called on Nigerians to remain committed to the democratic process, stressing that the mandate belonged to the electorate.
“The mandate rests with the people. Nigeria must function again, and it will be OK,” the statement said.
