Kogi  Mourns The Passing of Retired Rear Admiral Hamzat Muhammed Sani

The Kogi State Government has received with profound sadness the news of the passing of retired Rear Admiral, Alhaji Hamzat Muhammed Sani, a distinguished military officer, elder statesman, the Otase of Ebiraland and an illustrious son of Kogi State.

The late Rear Admiral Hamzat Muhammed Sani was among the few Kogites to attain the rank of Rear Admiral in the Nigerian Navy, a remarkable achievement that brought honour and pride to Kogi State. Throughout his military career and in retirement, he remained a symbol of patriotism, discipline and selfless service to the nation. He also served Nigeria with distinction as a delegate to the 2005 National Political Reform Conference, where he contributed meaningfully to national discourse with wisdom and statesmanship.

Governor Usman Ododo described his passing as a monumental loss to Kogi State and the nation, particularly the people of Ebiraland, noting that the late elder statesman devoted his life to the service of humanity and the advancement of his people. The governor said his exemplary leadership, humility and enduring commitment to peace, unity and development will continue to inspire generations.

In a statement,Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo extended the heartfelt condolences of the state government to the immediate family of the deceased, the people of Ihima, the Odumi Clan, the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, the Ebira Traditional Council and the entire people of Ebiraland over this painful loss.

The government prayed that Almighty Allah (SWT) forgives the shortcomings of the departed elder statesman, grants him Aljannatul Firdaus and comforts his family, friends and all those affected by his passing with the strength to bear this irreparable loss.
