M’East crisis: Nigerians escorted across Armenian border for safety – NIDCOM

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) has confirmed that some Nigerians residing in Iran and seeking safety have been escorted across the border into Armenia by officials of the Nigerian Embassy.
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, disclosed this in a statement, noting that embassy officials facilitated the safe passage of Nigerians willing to leave the country amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
According to her, the evacuation effort is part of measures by Nigerian authorities to ensure the safety of citizens in the region.
“So far, no Nigerian in Iran has been affected by the war,” Dabiri-Erewa said.
She added that government officials remain stationed at the border to receive and assist Nigerians who decide to leave Iran.
The NIDCOM boss also assured that the Nigerian government is closely monitoring developments in the region and taking necessary steps to safeguard the well being of its citizens in affected areas.
