The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has again decried the prolonged, ‘unlawful’ incarceration of its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu by the federal government, alleging that Kanu is being held as punishment for his exposure of, and earlier warnings about, the “genocidal intents of the neo-colonial Fulani establishment for Nigerian indigenous populations”.
According to the IPOB, in a statement issued Tuesday (earlier today, June 17) by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful, “the ongoing genocidal killings in Benue State, as widely reported by credible national media outlets, expose the sinister agenda behind the illegal abduction, extraordinary rendition, and unlawful detention of our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, who had been the shield standing between indigenous populations and total annihilation by foreign-sponsored Janjaweed mercenaries masquerading as herdsmen.”
“Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s voice was the loudest and most fearless in warning about the creeping invasion of Fulani terrorist herdsmen, their RUGA settlement scam, and the evil Waterways Bill, all of which were carefully designed to seize ancestral lands and subjugate native populations,” IPOB recalled, adding that it was Kanu’s “dogged resistance that frustrated those plots and forced the Fulani oligarchy to activate Plan B — his abduction and continued incarceration.”
“Now the truth is laid bare before the world,” the pro-Biafra self-determination group stressed. “The killings in Benue and across Nigeria are not random; they are systematic and deliberate.
“The same people who branded Mazi Nnamdi Kanu a “terrorist” are the ones enabling, protecting, and emboldening the real terrorists slaughtering innocent men, women, and children.
“If Mazi Nnamdi Kanu were a free man today, this magnitude of bloodshed would not be happening.
“His absence is not accidental — it was designed to remove the only credible and uncompromising voice capable of rallying the oppressed indigenous peoples against their planned extermination.
“We remind Nigerians that it was under Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s leadership that the evil RUGA settlement was exposed and rejected. It was under his watchful eye that the Waterways Bill was halted. It was through his revelations that the genocidal intentions of the Fulani ruling class were made public. His persecution is not because of any crime committed but because he stood in their way.”
Lamenting the killings in Benue and other parts of Nigeria, IPOB warned Nigerian nationalities against any form of complacency, noting that unless frontally confronted and defeated, those perpetrating the atrocities in Benue would move from there to more places in different parts of Nigeria, unleashing vicious attacks on indigenous populations and leaving behind cries of woe as they overrun communities.
“Today, Benue bleeds. Tomorrow, it will be others. One by one, every indigenous nationality will suffer the fate IPOB has been shouting about,” the pro-Biafra restoration group agonized.
“We call on all oppressed peoples of Nigeria — Middle Belt, Yoruba, Niger Delta, Biafra, and every freedom-seeking nationality — to wake up to the reality of the existential war being waged. The real criminals are in power. The real terrorists are those slaughtering unarmed citizens with impunity while framing those who dare to resist.
“Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is a prisoner of conscience. His release is not just a legal obligation, it is a moral imperative.
“We warn the Fulani ruling class and their collaborators: the day of reckoning is fast approaching. You may control the guns, the DSS, the courts, and the compromised media today, but you will not suppress the truth forever.
“The absence of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu was orchestrated to open the floodgates for this Fulani conquest agenda — but IPOB remains unbowed. The world is watching, and history will vindicate us.”
