Gov Mbah committed to addressing critical infrastructural gaps through Farm Estates

The Executive Chairman of Igbo-Eze North Local Government, Hon Michael Uche Ogalla, has reiterated the Enugu State Government’s commitment to addressing critical infrastructure gaps through its Farm Estate Initiative.

Hon Ogalla made this known during a working visit to the Efeche, Eforda, and Ogiliama Autonomous Communities in Ette Ward II and Ette Ward III.

The visit was part of Mayor Ogalla’s community engagement tour aimed at deepening local awareness and fostering community participation in governance.

While addressing community members, including Traditional rulers, PGs, youth leaders, women, and representatives of the diaspora, Mayor Ogalla highlighted the transformative potential of the Farm Estates. He emphasized that alongside agricultural productivity, the initiative would bring essential infrastructure to the host communities.

“I bring a message of hope and opportunity. The Farm Estate project is designed not only to boost food production and create employment but also to serve as a platform for infrastructural development, such as access roads, solar-powered street lighting and boreholes. These estates will make your communities more attractive to investors, including those in telecommunications and other sectors”, he said.

He reassured residents of the government’s respect for land ownership, emphasizing that no documents had been signed and that the land remains the property of the communities.

“The Enugu State Government, under the leadership of His Excellency, Dr Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, is not here to buy or seize land,” he clarified, saying, “instead, we want to support you by making farming easier and more productive through access to modern tools like tractors. As landowners, you will be given priority in the allocation of farming plots within the estates. These facilities will also be used by farmers from other wards across Igbo-Eze North who could not secure lands in their places.”

The visits were met with enthusiasm, reflecting growing optimism about the Farm Estate Initiative’s potential to serve as a catalyst for economic revitalization and rural development in Ette and beyond.
